Last night the Mets won an important road game behind a strong pitching performance by Mike Pelfrey (8-1). Big Pelf went 8 innings, allowing just one run and had 8 strikeouts. Pelfrey looked incredible, overmatching the Padres hitters. Pelfrey is the Mets 'Stopper', as the Mets are 6-0 following a loss when Pelfrey starts.
Slick Hits:
- Pelfrey was dominant and seems to be gaining confidence with each outing
- David Wright started the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st
- Wright later added a solo HR to left center
- Ike Davis hit a 2-run HR in the 7th
- Francisco Rodriguez came on for the 9th and earned his 10th save of the year, despite giving up 1 run. He may make it interesting, but he's still getting the job done!
Up next, the Mets look to win the rubber game at 6:35pm with Johan Santana LHP (4-2, 3.03 ERA) vs. Clayton Richard LHP (4-3, 3.00 ERA)
