That's 6 in a row for the Amazins. Just another quality start by a pitcher (Jon Niese), combined with an offense that saw every starter collect a hit. The Mets defeated the Indians last night by a score of 8-4.
Slick Hits
- Jonathon Niese went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3. Another effective start for Niese, who cruised to this 4th win of the year.
- David Wright, the NL leader in RBIs (52), went 1 for 5 with a double, and added 2 RBIs
- Angel Pagan improved his avg. to .288, going 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs
- The Mets hit 7, Yes Seven, doubles in last night's game. Ike Davis had 2 doubles in a 2 for 5 performance.
- With an 8-3 lead, Jenry Mejia was ineffective for 2 batters, which prompted Jerry Manuel out of the dugout to bring in Elmer Dessens. Dessens allowed one inherited runner to score, but limited the damage and got the final 6 outs of the ballgame.
The Mets look to complete the sweep of the Indians tonight at 7:05pm before heading back to NY to square off against the Yankees tomorrow night.
