The Mets completed the sweep of the Florida Marlins today, overcoming a 5-0 deficit to win the game 7-6. The Mets fell behind as Hisanori Takahashi had a rough day, allowing 5 runs in 5.1 innings. Takahashi started out the game well, but seemed to tire as the game went on.
Slick Hits
- Jeff Francoeur continued his torrid hitting streak (now 10 games), going 2 for 4 and belting a game-tying 3 run home run in the 7th.
- Jose Reyes struggled again, going 0 for 4.
- David Wright went 3 for 3 with 3 singles; Rod Barajas added 2 hits including his 10th double of the season.
- Ike Davis had a poor looking box score (0-4), but he put the ball in play when he needed to. In the 8th, it was 1st and 3rd with no outs. Yes, he grounded into a double play, BUT the eventual winning run scored. Although he is not credited with an RBI, this was a mature at bat, knowing the situation.
- Francisco Rodriguez came on for the 9th and allowed the tying run to reach 2nd base before finally ending the game with a big strikeout.
The Mets have an off day tomorrow, but look to continue their winning ways at home on Tuesday night vs. the San Diego Padres.
I was out at Citi today and the crowd was into the game at times, sitting on their hands at others. I love seeing the Mets fight back. In 07, 08, and 09 we saw very little 'fight' in this team. Coming back from a 5 run deficit certainly shows that this team has heart.
