I'm by no means a pessimist when it comes to the New York Mets. However, after taking 2 of 3 from the Bronx Bombers, Shut-Out Sweeping the hated Phillies, the Mets cannot afford a 2-4 road trip. They just can't. It's that simple.
With their best 2 pitchers going tonight and tomorrow night, the Mets must even this road trip and come home winning 2 straight. A 3-3 road trip is not great, but not devastating either. This team plays terrible on the road right now. Petco Park in San Diego is probably the closest thing the Mets have to feeling like home. It's a huge ballpark, a pitchers park. If the Mets can take these next 2 in San Diego, it will legitimize their last home stand. If they end up going 2-4 on this trip or worse, 1-5, their great homestand was for nothing. The Phillies may be struggling, but the Braves are possibly the hottest team in Baseball. The Mets must keep above .500 and start playing well away from Citi Field.
LETS GO METS!!
