Last night, the Mets lost their bid for another interleague sweep, falling to the Detroit Tigers 6-5. The Mets fell behind early 6-1 as Hisanori Takahashi was not good. He went only 4+ innings and allowed 6 earned runs. This poor start and length really hampered the Mets, who were a bit short in the bullpen after recalling Josh Thole C and optioning Raul Valdes RP. The Mets recalled Thole because of concerns about Rod Barajas' back tightness.
Slick Hits
- Jesus Feliciano got the start in CF for Angel Pagan and had a good night at the plate, going 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored.
- David Wright was 2 for 4, but struck out in a big spot in the 7th. Wright came to the plate with the bases loaded with 1 out, down by a run. David failed to put the ball in play to score the tying run.
- David Wright, Ike Davis, Jason Bay, and Chris Carter each collected 1 RBI in the game
- The Mets bullpen worked overtime, but pitched 5 scoreless innings. Bobby Parnell had 3 strikeouts in his one inning of work.
While I'm disappointed they didn't get the sweep, I'm still happy to see them win another series at home. The Mets continue their homestand this weekend, welcoming in the Minnesota Twins tonight at Citi Field at 7:10pm
